Robert J. Schmier President and Co-Founder
Robert J. Schmier is President of Schmier & Feurring Properties, a diversified real estate investment and development company. Bob co-founded the firm in 1981 with business partner Doug Feurring. Bob has been an active owner, acquirer and developer of retail, office, industrial, single family residential and other related businesses throughout Michigan and south Florida. He has been principally involved in all phases of acquisition, development, construction, financing, leasing and management. Bob’s creativity, professionalism and acumen are an integral part of the firm’s culture and success.
Prior to co-founding Schmier & Feurring Properties, Bob was a single family custom home builder in suburban Detroit. He earned a JD from the University of Michigan Law School in 1972 and a BA from University of Michigan in 1969. Bob is a former Chairman of the Boca Raton Housing Authority as well as a former member of the Board of Trustees and former Chairman of the Building Committee for Temple Beth El in Boca Raton, Florida.
Douglas R. Feurring Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder
Douglas R. Feurring is CEO of Schmier & Feurring Properties, a diversified real estate investment and development firm. Doug co-founded the firm in 1981 with business partner Robert Schmier. Doug has been an active owner, acquiror and developer of retail, office, industrial, single family residential and other related businesses throughout Michigan and south Florida. He has been principally involved in all phases of acquisition, development, construction, leasing and management. Doug’s determination and detailed eye are hallmarks of the firm’s culture and success.
Prior to co-founding Schmier & Feurring Properties, Doug was Vice President of Land Realty and Investment Company, a Michigan broker specializing in vacant land and commercial property sales. He earned a BS from Michigan State University in 1976. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Boca Raton Museum and Evergreen Media Corp. and a former member of the Board of Trustees of Congregation B’nai Israel.
Brian S. Schmier Vice President
Brian S. Schmier is Vice President of Schmier & Feurring Properties. Brian returned to Florida and joined the family business in 2002. He oversees the firm’s operations including acquisitions, development, construction, asset management and leasing. Before returning to Florida, Brian was an investment banker handling mergers and acquisitions with Colonnade Advisors in Chicago. Prior, he was an Associate with Deloitte/HOLT Value Associates and an investment banker with J.P. Morgan & Co.
Brian received a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Northwestern University.
Kathryn A. Lopez Treasurer and Director of Personnel
Kathryn Lopez is Treasurer and Director of Personnel for Schmier & Feurring Properties. She was the first employee when she joined the company in its infancy in 1983. As Treasurer, she is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, insurance and cash management for the firm and its third party clients. Kathy additionally oversees human resources, internal procedures and recordkeeping. She employs a hands-on approach working with business partners, third party clients, institutional partners and lenders. Her broad experience with asset management, property management and construction accounting are reflecting in the Company’s daily practices and her commitment to the staff and ownership are embodied in the company culture.
Jennifer L. Dieringer Director of Leasing, Schmier and Feurring Realty, Inc.
Jennifer L. Dieringer joined Schmier & Feurring Realty, Inc. in January 2007 as Director of Leasing and Licensed Real Estate Broker for the company. She brings 11 years of real estate experience in the Florida market. Jennifer’s responsibilities include leasing and landlord representation for twelve properties consisting of over 1.1 million square feet, and new business development. She is adept at all stages of the leasing process, from initial negotiations through drafting and execution. Jennifer is well versed in the intricacies and legal ramifications of the lease process and has negotiated leases with local, regional and national tenants. Prior to joining Schmier & Feurring Realty, Jennifer was with Turnberry Associates for 9 years.
Paula Winker Co-owner of Studio Seven and Schmier & Feurring Properties consultant for construction
Paula Winker serves as Construction Manager for Schmier & Feurring Properties. She is also a partner in Studio Seven Architecture and Construction. Paula is a licensed general contractor and has been actively involved in commercial development and construction in south Florida since 1983. She is responsible for all ground-up construction and supervises all tenant improvement work. Her development resume is a diverse portfolio including churches, synagogues, schools, residential communities and over 1,000,000 square feet of retail and office.
Paula earned her Masters degree from The Ohio State University and her undergraduate degree from Nebraska State College. Paula serves as an Associate on the Peace and Justice Committees for the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation of Sinsinawa, Wisconsin and also works with local bereavement support programs.
